🦸‍♀️ Mid Year Review - Superhero Training: Roll Call

🗓️ Welcome Friends!

That’s right, it’s that time of year where you are smack dab in the middle, with equal parts to ponder back and forward.  Don’t worry, at Nom Noms HQ we are doing it too.

If you've been riding along with Neurospicy Nom Noms for the past few issues, guess what? You’ve been in training — not for a marathon, but for something way more personal: learning how to feed your neurodivergent brain with less stress and more success.

This issue is about looking back and realizing just how many tools you’ve already picked up.

You’re further along than you think.

🦸‍♀️ Superhero Training: Roll Call

Let’s recap your current gear. You’ve picked up more than you probably realize:

  1. Sensory Profile:
Building your sensory profile to identify what textures, smells, and tastes you like (yum) and those you don't (yuck).
     ✅ Self-knowledge = reduced mealtime chaos.

  2. The 4-Step Texture Personalization (Through Fun!):
How to avoid a kitchen meltdown while expanding your palate, in a snappy four-step framework. Playing with your food — on purpose.
     ✅ Experimentation = empowerment.

  3. Pause & Pair:
Build in micro-moments of regulation — taking a breath, pair food with joy (a blanket, a playlist, a cat who judges no one).
     ✅ Regulation = readiness.

  4. Planning & Support:
Prep and reach out to build a brain environment that supports less panic and more peace, better nourishment, and real confidence in how you care for yourself.
     ✅ Preparation = peace.

  5. Satisfying Swaps:
Find neurospicy-friendly replacements: the sweet that doesn’t lead to a sugar crash, the comfort food that actually nourishes.
     ✅ Swaps = sustainability.

  6. Power Pairing:
Match protein with carbs like a seasoned matchmaker. Peanut butter and banana. Cheese and crackers. Food BFFs that give your brain lasting energy.
     ✅ Pairing = performance.

💌 Before You Go

🦸‍♂️ Which hacks have you tried (even accidentally)?
🧠 What’s helped your brain feel calmer around food?
💬 What superhero move are you still practicing?

📝 Take a moment. Grab a sticky note. Journal. Voice memo. Or shout your progress into the void (Instagram, Facebook).

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s awareness.

Because in the Neurospicy Nom Noms universe, reflection is a superpower too.  How else would you discover YOU ARE BEAUTIFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE?!?

Stay Delicious,

- Avery Burk
